Purchasing/Material Estimator

Assist with manufacturing projects in the structural steel industry.  Responsible for supporting project management department by assisting with in-depth plate and bolt specifics, project set up and detail within the fabrication operation.

Essential Position Requirements:
• Complete material Take-off’s and enter hardware into inventory control system
• The ability to read blue prints and work with estimates and work orders to ensure proper project design
• Provide support to Engineering Department when needed.
• Maintain project schedules and communicate project timelines with Drafting, Purchasing and Production Floor.
• Purchase adequate hardware and insure adequate inventory.
• Create drawings for plasma table and enter into Pronest or PM2000                                                                                    
• Provide support to estimating and drafting department.
• Prompt and dependable attendance.
• Assist with Daily computer backup, computer and related infrastructure support
• Other duties as assigned.

Education & Work Experience:
• Associate’s Degree in Architectural Drafting and Estimating OR equivalent experience in a related field and a minimum of one year related experience.

Knowledge & Skills:
• Must have general computer experience along with experience using spreadsheet and word processing programs.
• Ability to read and understand plans and specs.
• Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
• Ability to communicate effectively with others, detail in writing, clearly and concisely
• The ability to work under pressure and deadlines.
• Posses the ability to work independently.

Physical Requirements:
• Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping and stretching.
• Ability to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment.


Civil-Structural Engineer

A Bachelors degree in civil engineering or a related field from an accredited four-year college or university is required. A PE (Professional Engineer) license is highly desired. The individual must interact with people at all levels and communicate effectively. Strong computer skills, detail-oriented, self-starter, leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills are essential. Must be able to interpret engineer’s design & construction drawings.


Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Provides analysis & take off for project bids.
• Provides guidance for projects upon purchase order being issued.
• Will communicate with our customers to provide timelines and project updates as needed.
• Must be willing to work a flexible schedule during times of peak of business demand.
• Provide excellent customer service to the company’s customers.


• Applicant must be a registered • Professional Engineer (P.E.), licensed or eligible for license in North Dakota and individual states as necessary for project work load.
• Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, other engineering disciplines will also be considered with relevant work experience.
• Must be extremely well organized with the ability to deliver fast and accurate turnaround times.
• Experience with hands on engineering such as structural investigations etc., is highly preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be team oriented and enjoy service oriented type of work.
• Must have superior customer service skills.
• Must conduct business in an honest and ethical fashion at all times.
• Experience with writing detailed reports highly preferred.
• Must have excellent overall computer skills.
• Must have the ability to work efficiently with little or no supervision.

The Structural Engineer will provide timely, accurate, and cost efficient structural engineering services both in the office and in the field, if necessary. Responsibilities include planning, design and fabrication of steel structures.

• Provide structural design of all steel and aluminum structures.
• Knowledgeable in latest editions of the AISC Steel Construction Manual
• Provide quality control on all project work.
• Limited role growing to a more prominent role as individual becomes more experienced.
• Report progress to chief engineer.
• This position has the potential to be, or to develop into, a leadership position with a supervisory role depending on experience. Individuals with more experience have the opportunity to supervise staff and coordinate business development for the company.
• Provide direction and review for and support to the group by leading design aspects of projects; instructing, training, and mentoring group members and support staff; and adhering to project budget and schedule.
• Confer with project team members and clients to prepare and participate in project proposals and interviews.
• Use computer assisted engineering, design, and drafting software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents.
• Familiar with RISA 3D, Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office products.
• Understand and follow company established standard CADD procedures for file structure and standard drawing procedures for projects.
• Attend internal and external meetings.
• Client contact and communication. Utilize effective communication skills to answer inquiries from coworkers, clients, or the public.
• Provide all engineering services in a legal and ethical manner.
• Effectively deal with difficult situations and confrontation both internally and externally with contractors and clients.
• Exercise independent thinking, creativity, and initiative in the performance of these duties.

Qualifications and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Set-up, program, adjust and operate, a computer operated Plasma/plate cutting machine, to cut single or multiple pieces from sheet and plate stock material.
• Be able to select tips and adjust torches.
• Read blue prints, specifications and other requirements as directed
• Operate hand held cutting equipment.


• Minimum 6 months of experience in plasma cutting.
• Must be able to read drawings, weld symbols, and other specifics as directed.
• Must be able to lift 50-60 lbs.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to interact well with other employees.


• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Additional education in technical field preferred.


Job Description - Welding

• Hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.
• Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments, using processes such flux-cored arc, shielded metal arc and submerged arc welding.
• Monitor the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts of warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of materials.
• Examine work pieces for defects and measures work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
• Recognize, set up, and operates hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment.
• Position, align, and secure multiple parts using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers.

Applicant should have a working knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance as well as knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.

Problem solving abilities pertaining to all welding functions and be able to determine the appropriate tools and equipment needed to do a job.

The ability to see details at close range while doing all job functions. Individual will also need the ability to make precise coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects.  Must be able to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted, use controlled mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes not including computers or vehicles as directed. Individual must observe, receive, and otherwise obtain information from all relevant sources before starting a project and perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials in a safe and effective manner.
